The South Sudan National Assembly (SSNA) has resumed sittings in its second session after a two- months recess.

JUBA, 12 June 2012 [Gurtong] - South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit opened the session at a ceremony graced by the legislature, executive, judiciary, civil society and members of the diplomatic corps.
President Kiir commended the work done by the August House in the last session and pronounced a number of issues the house should focus on.
Among the issues include; speeding up of agricultural production policies, measures to fight corruption, insecurity, health and taxes that comprise non- oil revenues aimed at addressing economic inadequacies in the infant nation.
He called upon parliament to be decisive in cutting costs, adding that “the Austerity Measures Committee has recommended monthly spending to 500 million South Sudan Pounds, half of what the government has spent from January to May this year in the 6.5billion South Sudan Pounds 2012/13 budget that will be presented to the house”, he said.
“It is therefore an obligation and responsibility for our electorates that we fulfill what is expected of us. I call upon parliament to ratify necessary and needed lacking laws to streamline a number of issues that remain unaddressed due to absence of laws”, said Kiir.
He at the same time called for proactive approach to debates in the Assembly, saying South Sudanese were watching the performance of their leaders.
SSNA Speaker James Wani Igga said 18 bills were assented to by the President out of the 22 bills presented before the assembly.
“We are proud to note the vigorous participation of the stakeholders and interest groups during the public hearings carried out by the Committees while debating the Bills specifically on the National Election, Political Parties and Petroleum among others”, Igga said.
He unveiled 20 future and immediate action plans in addition to the President’s Policy statement that the government should work towards development of the one –year- old country.
He urged the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to spearhead dissemination of information government activities to the public frequently

Salva Kirr Mayardit announced publically to his supporters after arriving from the signing of an agreement with the rebel leader in Addis Ababa that the election will not be held on 2015 as it was expected. Malakal IDPs Desperately Need Relief Aid

The internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Malakal town desparately need relief assistnace.   March 2014 IDPs at a UNMISS clinic in Malakal. [File]  [Gurtong] - They have expressed disappountnent in the government for its failure to rescue them from the rebels' "atrocities" daily. The IDPs say people are being killed daily when found from their hideouts. IDPs in the United Nations' compound said their colleagues in churches and hiding in their houses risk being killed as the rebels still control Malakal town. Malakal fell into the hands of the Anti-government forces led by the country's ex-vice president Dr. Riek Machar, now turned rebel leader since mid-February after they overan the government forces there. "People are suffering. They have no food and water to drink. The town is looted," an IDP lamented. "So, there is no hope of life for those who are now in Churches and in their hideouts in town.&q

Since it is the best, it has his disadvantages as well, during the rainy season the road leading to Kapsoya and any street in the estate impassable, compared to Kipkaren centre which all the streets are tarmacked, there is no single street in Kapsoya which is tarmacked, but to your surprise the planning map from municipal council of Eldoret shows that all the roads leading to Kapsoya estate are well tarmacked. Someone will fail to understand why the map is reading so when in real sense it is not.
