Kapsoya Estate

Kapsoya Estate is the third ranked best in Kenya when it comes to the way it was planned and it is a home to rich, middle class and poor people around east Africa, compared to Kipkaren centre, Huruma and Maili ine Kapsoya estate emerges to be the first in Eldoret the way the houses are arranged. Since it is the best, it has his disadvantages as well, during the rainy season the road leading to Kapsoya and any street in the estate impassable, compared to Kipkaren centre which all the streets are tarmacked, there is no single street in Kapsoya which is tarmacked, but to your surprise the planning map from municipal council of Eldoret shows that all the roads leading to Kapsoya estate are well tarmacked. Someone will fail to understand why the map is reading so when in real sense it is not.

If you see Kapsoya from far you will admire to be staying there but just visit Kapsoya you will find out that there is no singe existing drainage to drain water during the rainy season, but if there is any either It is covered by soil or grass is growing inside, Kapsoya being the best estate, there is no single social hall to enable youth gather to gather and share ideas nor a field to enable youth to engage in sports. The only field which is adjacent to chief’s office, a house has been constructed on the field leaving youth with no option but change to another field where they gamble and the money they get from gambling is used to drink alcohol, smoke marijuana and other sort drugs. Earlier the estate was full of dumpsite, but thanks to Dash Neighborhood for introducing a system whereby every compound would pay a fee of Ksh 30 for the rubbish to be collected and taken to the dumpsite, the system was adopted by view but still a lot has to be done with Kapsoya. Kapsoya has a lot of issues for instance sometime residence can run for two to four days without water without any warning from water company, same applies to electricity and they no warning that their will be power interruption but they just cut whenever they want, sometime the residence will have to stay for five to seven hour before the lights are on.

Though faced with many problem there is one thing i must confess that Kapsoya people are enjoying to the fullest is security, every single day at around 7pm  , police officers from Kapsoya police post start to patrol around the Estate and the surrounding are until 5 am  this have been notice by the residence and they are happy about it.
